Better Access to Information Means Business Mobility
In today’s fast-paced world, it is difficult to make a decision without having as much information as possible.
However, we need to be able to make decisions at any given moment. I don’t make a single purchasing decision on the fly without checking my bank accounts on my phone. There are days when I catch myself checking multiple times before making even a normal purchase, like gas or groceries.
As a business owner and/or executive, this need for information is exponentially increased. Decisions are bigger, and the risk of having bad information is greater.
What is bad information? Raw data, indecipherable numbers, and non-current information is all bad information. Having out-of-date information can be worse than having no information.
The key to getting good, up-to-date information is that it needs to be non-disruptive.
Just as you are on the go, working hard to be productive and make decisions for your business, you should expect that your employees are doing the same. Gone are the days when a daily report you receive in the morning is enough to get you through the day. It is imperative that you don’t rely on calling an office manager or a bookkeeper every time you need to make a decision from the field.
Business technology often offers you many options in your endeavor to make the best possible decisions. There are:
- Hardware options: accessing data through your laptop or tablet.
- Software options: using cloud software to access your files from the office or out of the office, using a VPN to access your network.
- Your mobile phone.
Nearly everyone on the street today has a smartphone, so why not use it to make better decisions?
