Feature Highlights SalesPad Inventory Lookup SalesPad Inventory Lookup makes it easy for users to retrieve detailed information on any items in the Dynamics™ GP Inventory Master using any part of the Item Number or Item Description. SalesPad Inventory Lookup What many people don't realize is that the SalesPad Inventory Lookup also includes an Alternate Item file that can be populated with details of items that you may not want loaded in your Dynamics™GP Item Master file, but may want easily accessible by users for easy reference during the Sales Document Entry process. Items in the Alternate Item file can be searched while simultaneously searching for items in the standard Item Master. Alternate Items can be searched by any part of the Item Number or Item Description. They may also be added to the Sales Document as non-inventory items. DataCollection Desktop In addition to providing users the opportunity to manage inventory wirelessly using a Windows Mobile handheld device, SalesPad DataCollection also offers a "desktop" version of each function. DataCollection Desktop is a client version of DataCollection that includes functions for Receiving Purchase Orders, Picking & Fulfilling Sales Orders, Site & Bin Transfers, Inventory Adjustments, and Stock Count Entry. At this time, SalesPad Solutions has not done any testing with Service Pack 1 and cannot support issues with SalesPad resulting from its installation. Please use caution and install at your own risk. SalesPad User Defined Fields One of the many ways that SalesPad allows users to configure SalesPad to meet their specific business requirements is through the use of User Defined Fields. While both Microsoft Dynamics GP and SalesPad offer users a large range of places to store and view information, SalesPad also allows users to create unlimited User Defined Fields. These fields effectively allow SalesPad users to extend the type and amount of information that they are capturing about customers, vendors, inventory items, sales, and purchasing documents throughout their system. SalesPad supports the creation of User Defined Fields on the following business objects: Watch the Video -Customer Record -Customer Contact Record -Sales Document Header -Sales Document Line Item -Vendor Record -Vendor Contract Record -Purchase Order Header -Purchase Order Line Item -Inventory Item Master Record -Inventory Item Serial Number While SalesPad User Defined Fields can be viewed and the values maintained in various windows in SalesPad, many SalesPad UDFs can also be mapped to the existing User Defined Fields available in Dynamics GP. This allows users to view and maintain this data in either Dynamics GP or SalesPad. SalesPad User Field Editor SalesPad supports following types of fields: -Text, or Text with a drop-down list -Numeric Values -Date/Time -True/False The following characteristics may be applied to SalesPad UDFs: -Field is Read Only -Field is an Attachment -Field is a Hyperlink -Field is an Image -Field is Required SalesPad User Defined Fields are added to SalesPad specific tables in the Dynamics GP company database. This makes SalesPad User Defined Fields easily accessible by reporting tools like SmartList Builder, Crystal Reports, or Microsoft SQL Reporting Services. In August, as part of the Did You Know? Series, we presented a video about some of the new purchasing functionality in SalesPad. The video covers basic purchasing -- accessing vendor information, opening existing POs, and creating new POs. This month, we will cover the added functionality of the Purchasing Advisor, Purchased Line Editor, and Inventory Analysis modules. Purchasing Advisor Purchasing Advisor allows users to view demand throughout the system, from backordered items or inventory items with quantity that fall below their set reorder point. Users can also create purchase plans and generate POs. Items with purchasing demand display in the Demand Summary Grid, and details of selected items appear in the Demand Detail grid. The Purchase Planner section allows users to select multiple items for purchasing. Once purchase plan items are selected, a PO is created and can then be printed or emailed to the vendor. Purchased Line Editor The Purchased Line Editor allows users to easily create changes to sales orders and purchase orders with linked line items. From a single screen, users with proper security can view all linked documents and line items. Users can search by Sales Document, Purchase Order, Sales Batch, or Vendor and can easily view and edit quantity ordered, Unit Price, requested Ship Date, and Ship To Address on each document. Changes are written to both the sales document and the purchase order without having to unlink and relink each item on every order. Inventory Analysis Inventory Analysis allows users to easily view inventory movement across a range of items within a single window. Users can search by Item Class or Generic Description and filter their view even further on Item Number or Item Description. Average item unit sales are displayed across multiple time windows including 1, 2, 6 and 12 month averages. The view also displays number of months' supply available based on current average usage. In addition, the Inventory Analysis function makes it easy for the user to update item reorder points without ever having to open the Item Card in Dynamics GP. Reorder points may be updated for individual items or for a range of selected items. Purchasing is one of many new features in SalesPad version 3.7.
